On May 16th, technicians of China Railway 14th Bureau worked in the shield machine of "Yongzhou" in Jintang subsea tunnel of Yongzhou Railway.
On the same day, two super-large diameter shield machines simultaneously turned the cutter heads at both ends of the newly-built Jintang subsea tunnel on Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway (Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway), marking the official opening of the longest subsea high-speed rail tunnel in China.
Jintang subsea tunnel starts from Beilun District, Ningbo City in the west and ends in Jintang Town, Zhoushan City in the east, with a total length of 16.18 kilometers, of which the shield section is 11.21 kilometers, crossing Jintang Waterway, which is a control project for the whole line of Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway.
The Yongzhou Railway starts from Ningbo East Station in the west and ends at Bai Quan Town in Dinghai District in the east, with 7 stations, with a total length of about 76.4 kilometers and a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. After the project is completed, it will end the history that Zhoushan Islands is closed to railways, which is of great significance for improving the layout of railway network and promoting the integration and urbanization of Ningbo Zhoushan.
