Looking back on the past 2018, China has gone through 40 years of reform and opening up with its head held high, and made another step towards the center of the world stage. 1. The whole school thoroughly studied and implemented Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought of the Supreme Leader in the New Era.

In 2018, the whole school thoroughly studied and implemented Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought of the Supreme Leader in the New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and earnestly implemented the requirements of learning, understanding and doing things. On May 9th, our school issued the "Overall Plan of Tianjin University Party Committee on Promoting the Supreme Leader’s Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought into Textbooks, Classrooms and Teachers’ and Students’ Minds in the New Era" to build a "three-in" working system; Give play to the exemplary role of the 19 th National Congress delegates, cadres, teachers and students, and carry out more than 300 theoretical lectures; We will continue to promote the integration of ideological and political courses with ideological and political work, social practice and student party building, and promote the integration of ideological and political education with professional education. In November, Feng Cuiling and Yan Xiaofeng won the advanced commendation of Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China’s grassroots theory presentation.

2. Wang Jingkang’s team was selected as the first batch of Huang Danian-style teachers in national universities.

On January 4th, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the first batch of "Huang Danian-style teachers in national colleges and universities", and the "Chemical Engineering and Technology" teacher team led by Academician Wang Jingkang from the School of Chemical Engineering of our school was selected. Wang Jingkang’s team has always focused on the overall situation of the country, adhered to the core task of personnel training, served the needs of the country through scientific research, and carried out fruitful work in the aspects of teachers’ morality, education and teaching, scientific research innovation, social service and team building, setting an example for the majority of teachers.

3. Tianda’s scientific and technological innovation capability continues to improve.

In January, Tianda won the 2017 National Science and Technology Award for four achievements, including two first-completed units and two participated in the completion; In April, 32 achievements won the Tianjin Science and Technology Award, 23 were the first completed units, 8 won the first prize, and 1 won the major achievement award. In August, 342 projects were approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In October, he led the establishment of 8 national key R&D projects, ranking among the top universities in China; In December, he won the China Patent Prize. In 2018, Tianda’s research funding exceeded 3 billion yuan; SCI papers exceeded 4,000; The school applied for 3614 domestic patents.

4. The overall strength of the discipline has been continuously enhanced.

On January 12th, the field of pharmacology and toxicology entered the top 1% of ESI world for the first time, becoming the eighth discipline field of our school to enter the top 1% of ESI world.

Tianda has entered the top 1% of ESI in eight disciplines, among which engineering, material science and chemistry are among the top 1%, and all of them are among the top 100 in the world, ranking 40th in the engineering field, 57th in the material science field and 88th in the chemistry field.

5. Tianda leads the construction of "new engineering"

On January 21st, the Ministry of Education organized a working meeting of an expert group on research and practice of new engineering in our school to review the national research and practice projects of "new engineering". On March 21st, the Ministry of Education announced the first batch of 612 "new engineering" research and practice projects, and 9 projects were selected in our school, ranking first in the total number of projects in universities in China. On April 9th, an international seminar on "New Engineering Education Embracing the New Industrial Revolution" was held in our school. More than 150 representatives from 60 well-known universities and a group of leading enterprises at home and abroad attended the seminar, and jointly signed the Initiative on Establishing an International Alliance for "New Engineering Education". The first teaching and research base of "New Engineering" in the world-the "New Engineering Education Center" of Tianjin University was unveiled. On June 21st, President Zhong Denghua was invited to give a typical speech entitled "Building a New Engineering Course Based on the New Era" at the National Conference on Undergraduate Education in Colleges and Universities in the New Era. On July 7-8, the fifth Council meeting of the Engineering Education Committee of China Higher Education Society and the seminar on "New Engineering" construction and integration of production and education were held in Tianjin. More than 500 delegates discussed the China route and China model of "New Engineering" construction.

On December 16th, the "Annual Progress Exchange Meeting on Research and Practice Project of’ New Engineering’ in Engineering Advantage Universities" was held in Tianda. The conference discussed and exchanged 204 research and practice projects focusing on "new engineering", and five "new engineering" educational institutions, including the washington accord International Affairs Office of the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, were unveiled in Tianda.

6. Tianda’s achievements were selected as "Top Ten Scientific Progress in China" for the first time.

On February 27th, the achievement of "Precise Custom Synthesis of Yeast Long Chromosome" completed by Professor Yuan Yingjin was selected as "Top Ten Scientific Progress in China in 2017", which was the first time that Tianjin and our university were selected.

New breakthroughs have been made in the field of synthetic biology in our university. On May 22nd, Yuan Yingjin’s team published three research articles in the same period in Nature Communication. On September 7th, the paper "Genome Rearrangement of Ring Chromosome 5" was also published in Nature Communication. On October 25th, Tianda Frontier Science Center for Synthetic Biology was approved as one of the seven frontier science centers approved by the Ministry of Education.

7. The whole school implements the spirit of the Tenth Party Congress.

On March 12th, the CPC Tianjin University Committee issued the Notice on Studying, Propaganda and Implementing the Spirit of the Tenth Party Congress. Over the past year, the whole school has thoroughly studied and implemented the deployment of the ten party congresses, and actively explored the vivid practice of building our school into a socialist university with "China characteristics, world-class and great character".

8. Tianda Medical Construction has made great strides.

Tianda has further improved the discipline layout of "strong work, generous management, zhen wen and promoting medicine". On March 21st, Tianda was approved to establish the first medical undergraduate major in intelligent direction in China. On April 14th, the Faculty of Medicine of Tianjin University was formally established, and the first modern university in China became a "medical dream". On July 14th, the medical education innovation and development forum and the national seminar on the construction of intelligent medical engineering specialty were held, and the national intelligent medical engineering education consortium was established. On September 5th, the first batch of 30 freshmen majoring in intelligent medical engineering from 17 provinces and cities in China entered the school. On December 9th, Tianjin University Medical Education Consortium was established, and six affiliated hospitals of Tianjin University were unveiled, which marked a new milestone for Tianda Medical Science.

9. The transition of the administrative leadership team of college-level units was completed.

From March to June, our school completed the adjustment and change of the administrative leadership of college-level units. The term of office of the new administrative team is 2018-2022.

On March 22nd, a kick-off meeting was held for the adjustment and change of the administrative leading bodies of college-level units. On June 8, the college-level unit was re-elected to announce its appointment and a collective talk meeting was held. The school leaders put forward requirements for the new leading cadres. On November 7th, the school held a ceremony to submit the term target responsibility letter of the administrative leading group of college-level units. The heads of 23 colleges (departments) and 10 directly affiliated units submitted the responsibility letters of their units to the president Zhong Denghua.

10. Contribute to the development of artificial intelligence.

The school vigorously promotes the layout of artificial intelligence. From May 12th to 18th, during the 2nd World Intelligence Conference, our school established the Department of Intelligence and Computing and the College of Artificial Intelligence, and signed a co-construction agreement with Binhai New Area Government, AVIC Trust and Yifei Zhikong for Tianjin Intelligent Aviation Industry Technology Research Institute. Our school hosted five academic forums of the Second World Intelligence Congress, including one main forum and four sub-forums, and participated in many activities. In 2018, Tianda achieved a number of important research results in the field of artificial intelligence.

11.2018 "Begonia Season" Campus Open Day was held.

　 　 On April 7th, the 7th 2018 "Tianda Haitang Season" Campus Open Day with the theme of "Blooming in a New Era" was held. More than 40 colorful activities attracted more than 30,000 people to enter the Tianda Double Campus. The "Tianjin University-Baidu AI Deep Learning Lecture Hall" was officially launched, and several key laboratories were opened to the public. Interactive exhibitions of intelligent technology, historical archives, scientific and technological achievements, and photo exhibitions of teachers and students were held. Students also showed their talents, creativity and joy through special cultural performances, teacher-student reading sessions and other activities.

12. Deepening the reform of personnel system by "introducing education simultaneously"

The school deepens the reform of personnel system and builds a global selection system for first-class talents. In April and December, the fifth and sixth "Beiyang Young Scientists Forum" was held, and more than 300 outstanding young talents from well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad attended the meeting. In 2018, the school held 13 overseas career development reports in the United States, Britain, Belgium and other countries and regions, forming a high-level talent introduction mechanism linked by schools, colleges and disciplines/professors; The "Measures for the Evaluation and Appointment of Professors in the" Beiyang Teacher Career Development System "of Tianjin University" was promulgated, and the evaluation and appointment of professorships without talents was officially launched; 92 high-level talents of all kinds were added, and the construction of high-level talents team achieved remarkable results.

13. Great achievements have been made in deepening the reform of aesthetic education.

On April 17-20, Tianda Beiyang National Orchestra won the first prize of instrumental music group in the fifth national college students’ art exhibition. In May, the first batch of Yangliuqing New Year Pictures Art Heritage Base of Tianjin University, the base of Chinese excellent traditional culture, was completed and opened by the Ministry of Education, and won one of the top ten demonstration projects of "honoring Chinese excellent traditional culture" by the Ministry of Education. In the summer, Beiyang Chorus won 15 awards in three domestic and international choral competitions, namely the 14th China International Chorus Festival, the 7th Bali International Chorus Festival and the Huanglong Music Season International Chorus Art Week.

14. Tianda was authorized to independently audit colleges and universities with a degree.

On April 27, our school was approved to be one of the first batch of 20 self-auditing units for degree authorization in China; At the same time, two new first-class disciplines, namely, the doctoral degree authorization points of pedagogy and the master degree authorization points of China Language and Literature and Cyberspace Security, were added. In the second half of the year, the "Implementation Measures for the Independent Audit of Doctoral and Master’s Degree Authorization in Tianjin University" was formulated, and the independent audit of new degree authorization points in 2018 was organized and completed.

15. The construction of counselors has made great progress.

In April, the 7th Counselor Quality Competition of Tianjin University was held. Forty-one counselors won the "Full Score Award for Student Identification", accounting for 41% of the participants, showing a solid work foundation. In June, the induction ceremony and special presentation for newly hired counselors in Tianjin University was held in Qiushi Hall, and 46 new counselors were sworn in collectively. In 2018, the Handbook for Counselors of Tianjin University was compiled and put into use, which aroused strong repercussions in domestic universities.

16. The first University Culture Summit Forum was held.

On May 12th, the 2018 annual meeting of the University Culture Research Branch of China Higher Education Association and the first University Culture Summit Forum of Tianjin University were held in our school. More than 130 experts from more than 40 universities and research institutions discussed issues related to university culture. The participating scholars jointly issued the "Tianjin Initiative" of "Building University Culture with China Characteristics in the New Era".

17. "Haiyan" set a new world record for domestic water gliders.

On May 14th, the long-range "Haiyan" water glider developed by the marine technology and equipment team of our school set a number of new records, such as the longest continuous working time, the most measuring profiles and the longest cruising range, which improved the observation ability of China’s water gliders to four months. On May 15th, the project "Development and Sea Trial Application of Long-range Underwater Glider", the key project of the national key R&D plan "Deep Sea Key Technology and Equipment" undertaken by our school, passed the expert review.

In late November, "Haiyan" successfully completed the mid-term sea test assessment of the project, running trouble-free for 141 days, with a maximum working depth of 1010 meters, 734 continuous sections and a cruising range of 3619.6 kilometers, once again refreshing the previous record of the longest continuous working time and the longest cruising range of domestic water gliders.

18. In 2018, undergraduate enrollment launched the New Deal.

In June, Tianda launched the "Undergraduate Education 2030 Action Plan" in an all-round way to deepen the comprehensive reform of undergraduate education; In 2018, enrollment comprehensively launched the comprehensive reform of large-scale enrollment and accurately publicized the "Double 800" plan, and launched the "four new"-new majors, new categories, new pilots and new policies. That is, three undergraduate majors are added: intelligent medical engineering, landscape architecture and marine science; Launched 13 enrollment categories for students to voluntarily fill in, covering humanities, social sciences, economics and management, science, engineering and other disciplines; Three characteristic experimental classes have been set up: "Seeking Excellence", "New Engineering Experimental Class" and "Seeking Talents"; Focus on creating three supporting policies: the dynamic adjustment mechanism of enrollment plan, the mechanism of transferring students from school to major without threshold, and the establishment of student innovation and development fund. In 2018, the quality of Tianshengsheng continued to improve steadily.

19. The commemoration of Zhang Tailei’s 120th birthday was held.

From June 12 to 20, our school held a series of activities to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Zhang Tailei’s birth, encouraging teachers and students to inherit the spirit of thunder and take on the responsibility of national rejuvenation. On the 12th, the school held a grand symposium to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Comrade Zhang Tailei’s birth, and held an editorial meeting of "The Biography of Zhang Tailei" and a concert of "Salute to the Sages" to remember the sages’ demeanor and inherit the revolutionary spirit. From 14th to 20th, a delegation from our school went to Changzhou to attend the activities commemorating the 120th anniversary of Zhang Tailei’s birth, presented a copy of Zhang Tailei’s diploma issued by Beiyang University 98 years ago to Changzhou Zhang Tailei Memorial Hall, and was invited to attend related seminars, exhibitions of old red newspapers and cultural lectures. In October, Tianjin University held the academic activity week of "Inheriting Red Genes and Carrying Forward Fine Traditions".

20. Tianda has further promoted targeted poverty alleviation work.

In 2018, Tianda leaders went to Suichang many times to promote the designated poverty alleviation work, and did their best to do the "Tianda" thing of poverty alleviation. In June, Tianda opened the "Special Seminar on the Promotion of Cadres in Tanchang County’s Cultural and Sports Wide System"; On July 30 ~ 31, Li Jiajun, secretary of the Party Committee of our school, led a team to Dangchang to conduct research and promote poverty alleviation on the spot. On October 21, Tianda held a designated poverty alleviation work conference to formulate a poverty alleviation work plan; On the 30th, President Zhong Denghua led a team to Tanchang to hold a symposium on poverty alleviation. On December 3, the leaders of Tanchang County led a team to Tianda to discuss and dock the fixed-point assistance work, and the two sides made every effort to promote the implementation of various assistance work. In October, Song Peng, a young teacher of our school and secretary of the Party branch of Dazhai Village, Shawan Town, Tanchang, was awarded the National Poverty Alleviation Award "Innovation Award" by the State Council.

21. Tianda carried out inspection and evaluation on the implementation of patrol rectification.

In June, Tianda marked the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and organized an inspection and evaluation of the implementation of the central inspection and rectification. The school has formed 8 inspection teams, which have inspected and evaluated the implementation of the rectification of 30 key tasks by listening to reports, communicating, consulting materials, questionnaires and on-site inspections, and solidly promoted the inspection and rectification work.

22. Tianda promotes the vigorous development of international education.

The school accelerated the improvement of various conditions for running the Georgia Institute of Technology in Tianjin University, and the first joint management committee of Shenzhen Institute was established on July 19th. On July 27th, China-ASEAN Capacity Building Center and China-Indonesian Smart ocean centre were officially inaugurated. On December 6th, Tianda was approved as the China-ASEAN Smart Ocean Education Center, actively serving the national "Belt and Road" construction. On December 1st, our school signed a cooperation agreement with National University of Singapore, Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and Fujian Provincial Department of Education in Fuzhou. Tianjin University-Fuzhou Union College of National University of Singapore settled in the international campus as the first project to cultivate global outstanding talents. In 2018, the school signed 37 new cooperation agreements with 30 overseas high-level colleges and institutions, with 3,798 international students, including 1,779 academic students and 733 graduate students, all of which achieved substantial growth.

23. Tianda takes the lead in building the world’s largest earthquake engineering simulation research facility.

In August, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the establishment of a large-scale earthquake engineering simulation research facility, the first major national scientific and technological infrastructure in China’s earthquake engineering field, with Zhong Denghua, president of our school, as the chief scientist of the project, with a total investment of more than 1.5 billion yuan. This large-scale scientific device will become the largest and most powerful seismic simulation research facility for major projects in the world at present, which is of great significance for ensuring the safety of major projects such as civil engineering, water conservancy, ocean and transportation in China. With a total construction area of 77,000 square meters, the device will be built in Tianda Beiyangyuan Campus, with a construction period of five years, including three systems: earthquake engineering simulation test, high-performance calculation and intelligent simulation, test matching and sharing, involving many fields. On November 17th, the review meeting of the feasibility study report department of the large-scale earthquake engineering simulation research facility project was held.

24. Innovation and entrepreneurship education has achieved remarkable results.

On August 24th, Dr. He Jian won the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, and the Construction Environment Team won the title of "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team". On October 15th, Tianda Entrepreneurial Team won the best record of one gold, one silver and one bronze in the 4th National Finals of China "internet plus" University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, achieving a breakthrough of zero gold medal in Tianjin main track. On October 27th, the finals of the first "Principal’s Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Tianda, which was attended by more than 200 entrepreneurial teams, ended.

25. Comoros President azali and his party visited Tianda.

On September 2nd, President azali assoumani of Comoros, an African Indian Ocean island country, led a delegation, accompanied by relevant leaders, to visit our school history museum, held talks and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between Comoros Embassy in China and Tianjin University with our school.

26. Tianda started the postgraduate curriculum reform.

Beginning in September, Tianda revised the postgraduate training plan and updated the knowledge system of engineering talents. The first batch of 21 postgraduate "New Engineering" courses were completed and started one after another. The course is divided into four modules: basic, computing, manufacturing and comprehensive. The first batch of courses attracted 3319 graduate students to choose courses.

27. The first "Seeking Truth from Teaching Model Award" was awarded

On September 30th, Tianda awarded the first "Seeking Truth from Teaching Model Scholarship", aiming at rewarding outstanding teachers who are moral, caring for students, devoted to teaching, fruitful, academically outstanding and outstanding in performance. Six front-line teachers, Jia Shaoyi, Liu Xijun, Zhang Sherong, Zhang Yuqin, Liu Junji and Ma Zhiyao, won the scholarship donated by Renai Group.

28.77, 78 alumni 40th anniversary of admission activities held.

Our school held the 40th anniversary of the admission of 1977 and 1978 alumni. In July, alumni named asteroid 8917′ ‘Tianjindaxue’ through the International Astronomical Union as a gift to their alma mater to commemorate the 40th anniversary of admission. On October 2nd, we built the "Tianjin University Star" landscape, "Restoring the Memorial Wall of the College Entrance Examination" and the Double Pavilion, and set up scholarships to show our gratitude and feedback.

29. Tianda welcomes the audit and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education.

From October 8 to 11, the Higher Education Teaching Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education organized experts to conduct a four-day review, evaluation and inspection of undergraduate teaching in our school. The expert group spoke highly of our school. Since January ~ September, our school has been focusing on audit and evaluation, helping the "Tianjin University First-class Undergraduate Education 2030 Action Plan" and making efforts to make undergraduate education a benchmark. The school has established an audit and evaluation organization; Organized two hospital-level evaluation and construction inspections; A school-wide pre-assessment was conducted; Centralized organization of various preparations for the assessment.

30. Alumni Association completes the change of the board of directors.

On October 28th, the members’ congress, the seventh Council meeting and the 2018 Standing Council of Tianda Alumni Association were held. The meeting completed the change of the board of directors, adjusted the directors of local alumni associations, adopted the revised draft of the articles of association of alumni associations, and decided that Shijiazhuang Alumni Association would host the 12th World Alumni Congress of our school. President Zhong Denghua was elected as the new president.

31. "Tianda Wisdom" Helps the Construction of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

On October 24th, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was officially opened for operation. From the start of construction in December 2009 to the official opening. Li Zhongxian, Wang Yuanzhan, Xiao Zhong, Bieshe ‘an team from the School of Civil Engineering of our school, alumni Wang Rukai, Lu Yongchang, Liang Hao, Chen Liangzhi, Wang Tingting, Xiao Shibao, Chen Haifeng, Peng Zhihao and Ma Yong participated in the design, construction and construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, contributing "great wisdom and strength".

32. The 40th anniversary of the resumption of management education and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of computer specialty were held.

On October 24th, Tianda held a series of activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the restoration of management education, such as the theme forum of "New Era and New Business". The deans of 29 domestic business (management) colleges gathered in Tianda to discuss the connotation and essence of "New Business" in the new era and look forward to the future development direction of management education. On December 16th, the 60th anniversary commemorative meeting of computer major in our school was held in Qiushi Hall. More than 1,000 representatives from related colleges of more than 60 universities in China and alumni of our school attended the meeting. From November to December, the Department of Intelligence and Computing held a series of activities such as the centenary of Xu Zhenyu’s birth to commemorate the 60-year history of running a school.

33. Tianduo’s influence is in the forefront of universities in China.

On October 25th, the "2018 University Presidents Forum" co-sponsored by People’s Daily, People’s Daily, Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government released the "2017-2018 China University Social Influence Ranking", and our school ranked ninth in the "University Social Influence Ranking" and "University Media Influence Ranking" and sixth in the "University New Media Influence Ranking".

34. Chen Xi came to the school to investigate the party building work.

On November 1st, Chen Xi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Central Organization Department, came to Tianjin to investigate the Party building work in colleges and universities. He came to the study area of Party Theory and Party Building in the history of our school library to exchange theoretical study with teachers and students, and came to the studio of the secretary of the Party branch of the "double leaders" teachers in colleges and universities all over the country to listen carefully to the work. He stressed that it is necessary to comprehensively strengthen the party’s leadership over all work in colleges and universities.

35. Tianda has been elected to the new teaching committee with a record number.

On November 1, 2018-2022, the inaugural meeting of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education was held. Tianda was selected as 60 members, a record high. Among them, there are 2 directors and 15 deputy directors, an increase of 9 from the previous session; The number of elected members increased by 28 compared with the previous session.

36. Tianda started the first round of school inspections.

On November 20th, Tianda Party Committee held the kick-off meeting of school inspection and the first round of mobilization meeting of school inspection to start the school inspection. In-school inspection regards "two maintenance" as the fundamental political task, focuses on "six surrounding and one strengthening", finds out the political deviation, and promotes the comprehensive and strict management of the party to the grassroots. In the first round of school inspection, two inspection teams were set up to inspect the party committees of law schools and libraries and archives.

37. The third scientific and technological work conference was held in Tianda.

From November 26th to December 28th, the third scientific and technological work conference was held in our school, which lasted for one month. President Zhong Denghua gave a report entitled "Striving to Improve the Ability of Scientific and Technological Innovation and Accelerating the Construction of a World-class University", and Party Secretary Li Jiajun made a concluding speech. More than 10,000 people from all units in the school closely discussed and exchanged scientific and technological work around the national strategic deployment, planned "three layouts" in depth, implemented "three plans", realized "three upgrades", contributed wisdom, reached consensus, and jointly painted the future blueprint of scientific and technological work. Tianda has started a new journey of striving to improve the ability of scientific and technological innovation.

38. Tianda signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sichuan Province.

On November 29th, the People’s Government of Sichuan Province signed a strategic cooperation agreement with our university. 39. Tianda University has achieved good results in domestic and international competitions.

In the December 2018 Looks International Architectural Student Design Competition, the works of Tianda University stood out from 633 works from 58 countries around the world and won the world championship. The University Student Branch won the Outstanding Student Branch Award in the Chem-E-Car Competition in October. In March, two students won the first prize and six students won the second prize in the 9th National Mathematics Competition for College Students. In the 8th World Chinese Debate Championship in May, Tianda Debate Team won the runner-up and one was the best debater. In August, in the National College Students’ Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Competition, four teams from Tianda won one grand prize, one first prize and two second prizes.

40. Tianda signed a co-construction agreement with Binhai New Area

On December 11th, our school signed the Framework Agreement for Deepening Strategic Cooperation and the Cooperation Agreement for Building an International Joint Research Center for Synthetic Biology with the People’s Government of Tianjin Binhai New Area, and the Cooperation Agreement for Building a Graduate School of Tianjin University with the People’s Government of Binhai New Area and the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Management Committee. Our school will build the Graduate School of Tianjin University and the International Joint Research Center of Synthetic Biology in the campus of Binhai Industrial Research Institute. The two sides also reached a cooperation intention on planning and constructing our Binhai International Campus in Binhai New Area.

41. Tianda teachers and students celebrate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up.

On December 18th, the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up was celebrated in the Great Hall of the People. Ten thousand teachers and students in our school listened and watched the grand occasion of the conference and the important speech of the Supreme Leader General Secretary. All units also organized a visit to the "Great Change-A Large Exhibition to Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up", and held a series of activities, such as ode to poetry, photo exhibition and theme education month summary sharing meeting.

42. Tianda’s humanities and social sciences are growing.

In 2018, our school added two CTTI source think tanks, and two think tanks were selected as one of the top 100 think tanks in China universities, and four major national social science projects were approved, and 25 achievements won provincial and ministerial social science outstanding achievement awards, with the number of SSCI papers reaching 225.

43. Tianda’s efforts to strengthen grassroots party building have achieved results.

Our school meets the requirements of the central authorities, and takes various measures to comprehensively strengthen the grassroots party building work. In mid-September, the second party branch secretary’s studio of the Department of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of the School of Architecture and Engineering was selected as the first batch of "double leaders" teachers’ party branch secretaries’ studios in national universities. In December, the Party Committee of Jingyi College was selected as the "National Benchmarking Department of Party Building Work"; The second party branch of the Department of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering and the party branch of the Chemical Engineering and Technology Teaching and Research Section of the Department of Chemical Engineering of Renai College were selected as "National Party Building Work Model Branch"; Bai Zhiliang, a doctoral student majoring in instrument science and technology in Jingyi College, won the "party member Model of 100 Postgraduates" in national universities; The vertical party branch of the Modern Acoustics Testing Laboratory of Jingyi College was selected as one of the "100 Graduate Model Party Branches" in national universities.

44. Tianjin University Institute of Molecular Aggregation Science was established.

Tianjin University promotes interdisciplinary integration and strengthens the construction of science groups. On December 19th, the Institute of Molecular Aggregation Science was established. The Institute is committed to the frontier research and related practical application of interdisciplinary background, covering the frontier direction of chemistry, and also widely radiating to biology, physics, mathematics, medicine, materials science, optics and even closely related to machinery manufacturing, informatics and environmental science. At present, the institute has begun to recruit the first batch of doctoral students.

45. Tianda won 10 national teaching achievement awards.

At the end of December, the Ministry of Education officially announced the list of national teaching achievement awards in 2018. Tianda has won 10 national teaching achievement awards, including 2 first prizes and 8 second prizes, ranking among the best in the country and achieving the best results in history.
