"If Putin stays in power, we will make the United States kneel down"-a Russian government worker said. After the United Russia Party won the State Duma election, the future political identity and status of the current President Putin became the focus of attention.
The chairman of the United Russia Party made it clear a few days ago that Putin will remain the leader after leaving office.
USA-Today reported on the 6th that although Putin’s second presidential term will end in 2008, many people in Russia hope that he will remain in power because of his stable political situation and rapid economic growth.
A 24-year-old Russian government statistics office worker said: "Russia is strong again. If Putin stays in power, we will make the United States kneel."
Prior to this, Putin had said that he hoped to maintain his political influence after leaving the Kremlin. There is public opinion that Putin may amend the constitution to seek re-election, but Putin has repeatedly said that he respects the constitution and has no intention of amending it.
The issue of Putin’s official "birthright" in the future has always been the focus of the United Russia Party, which won an overwhelming victory in the just-concluded Russian State Duma election. Gryzlov, chairman of the party, said: "Putin is our national leader. No matter what he will do after the presidential election, he will still be the leader of our nation."
Some Kremlin officials analyzed that the results of the State Duma election showed that the mass base supporting Putin to remain in power was relatively broad, but the role of the so-called "state leader" could not be determined at present.
